Imperial stables turned into a museum campus, with a courtyard that costs nothing and is where Vienna sits in summer.
What it costs
The courtyards are free and public, and the coloured Enzis β the moulded benches people sprawl on β are the reason half the crowd is there. No ticket, no closing time.
The museums inside each sell their own: the Leopold Museum for Schiele and Klimt, mumok for modern and contemporary, the Kunsthalle for temporary shows. There is a combined ticket if you are doing more than one.

When to go
The courtyard is at its best on a summer evening and is used year-round. The museums keep their own hours and at least one closes on a Monday.
Getting there
Metro U2 to Museumsquartier or U3 to Volkstheater β the two exits are at opposite ends of the complex.

If you only have an hour
Sit in the courtyard. That is a real recommendation β it costs nothing, and it is what the space is for. If you want a museum with the hour, make it the Leopold for the Schieles.
What people get wrong
The Leopold holds the world’s largest Egon Schiele collection, which is what most people are actually looking for when they say they want to see Klimt in Vienna β the Klimts are largely at the Belvedere instead.
